Problem report / further detail
I switched from a Galaxy S* to the S* when it came out, I simply tossed my S* in a drawer and have not used it since. I need to recover files off of it, so I plugged it into my PC after charging it up. When I primarly used it I used the fingerprint scanner. when I try to access it now it wants the "back up" password which I do not recall. The device is set up to factory reset after ** failed attempts and I have tried several of my "go to" passwords to no avail. I attempted to use google's android manager (*android*devicemanager). My Google account sees the phone and is connected to it. It sent a notification to the phone that I pulled up it's location on the phones lock screen. However I was only given the option to locate the device, lock it, or factory reset it. when I connected the device to my PC I was prompted to install some sort of driver packages from verizion and samsung (which I did install) then when attemtping to use those it said the device must be unlocked. I have no problem wiping the phone after my data is copied. the perfect solution would be to create an entire copy of everything on the phone. is that possible?
